Itasca Family Weekend

The Friends of Itasca and the Bell Museum invite MAS members and families to participate in a Family Weekend at the University of Minnesota's Biological Station in Itasca State Park. Join us to enjoy the beautiful fall colors, meet new friends, learn a little science, and engage in good fellowship with fellow Itasca enthusiasts.

We have many activities planned to help you enjoy this unique setting, including:

  • Friday night, nametag and T-shirt decorating, puzzles and more.
  • Saturday morning, afternoon and Sunday morning adult and family programs (topics include Butterfly Gardening, Nature Photography, Nature Drawing, Endangered Species, GPS Geocaching,and more).
  • Children's program with the Bell Museum
  • Attendee Reception, hosted by the Planning Committee.
  • Saturday night program, music, a campfire, and S'mores.
  • Pontoon rides and canoeing on Lake Itasca.
  • Nature hike to the Mississippi Headwaters and beyond …
  • Bike the beautiful Itasca Park trails.
  • Pick-up games of volleyball, soccer, table tennis, basketball, horseshoes, or badminton.
